John Peter MacArthur 1939-2022 – It is with great sadness we announce the passing of John “Peter” MacArthur on September 9th 2022. Peter passed away peacefully in his sleep under the generous care of the staff at Caressant Care Nursing Home in Lindsay Ontario. In his 83rd year, Peter is survived by his loving wife of sixty years, Sandra (Greig) MacArthur and his children, Linda MacArthur, Karen MacArthur (Peter Canakis), Greg MacArthur, and Amy MacArthur (Andrew Laing). He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Zac, Ilias, Wyatt and Isla. Peter was pre-deceased by sisters Donna Elliot and Shirley Lavis, and by his parents Archibald “Archie” MacArthur and Ruth MacArthur (Blizzard). Born and raised in Lindsay, Pete was a devoted and charismatic teacher at both LCVI and I.E. Weldon High Schools, known for his sense of humour, his musical chops (the trumpet and the harmonica), and his many practical jokes. Later in life, he was devoted to his two horses, Magic and Suzie, who became very much a part of the family. His many woodworking projects, his ability to fix almost anything with masking tape and glue, and his gardening prowess, Peter lived a full, rich, generous life. He touched many lives. He always left us with a smile. He will be dearly missed. Peter is resting at Mackey Funeral Home in Lindsay, Ontario, where a service will be announced in the coming days. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at Mackey Funeral Home to a charity of your choice.
