Peter’s Obituary
DOW, Peter John – age 73, The Meadows Home for Special Care, Yarmouth, formerly of Arcadia, Yarmouth Co., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at The Meadows. Born March 17, 1949 in Yarmouth, he was a son to the late Peter and Marie (Terris) Dow. After graduating from St. Mary’s University in Halifax, Peter went on to work as a lab technician at Yarmouth Regional Hospital, eventually becoming the lab manager. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially camping and canoeing. He was also a member of St. Ambrose Co-Cathedral parish, where he sang in the choir. However much of Peter’s spare time was spent volunteering with Scouts Canada, having served as District Commissioner. He is survived by his two sons, Christopher (Lindsay) Dow, Red Deer, AB and Derek Dow, Calgary, AB, as well as by four grandchildren, Ainsley, Liam, Isla and Steven, along with a great grandson, Cameron. Aside from his parents, Peter was predeceased by his loving wife, Nancy (Cottreau) Dow, as well as by his two brothers, Raymond Dow and Kevin Dow. Visitation will take place from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 29 at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, 29 Albert Street, Yarmouth, with prayers at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will take place at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 30, from St. Ambrose Co-Cathedral, Father Henry Smolenaars officiating. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Yarmouth. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Peter may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
