Peter G Nash 1956 2022 avis de deces

October 29, 1956 – May 17,
2022
Passed peacefully,
but suddenly away, at his Fort MacMurray residence, at age 65, Peter
Gerard Nash of Branch, St. Mary’s Bay, NL. Predeceased by
his parents Gerald and Jenny Nash and his in-laws Leo and Perpetua
Nash.
Leaving to mourn with
broken hearts his loving wife of 46 years, Phyllis, his beloved
daughters Angie and Virginia and his cherished granddaughter
(“little girl”), Mya Lynn. Pete will be remembered by his
siblings, his in-laws, his many cousins and a wide circle of other
relatives and friends in Newfoundland and Labrador and Alberta. Pete
will be greatly missed by his Syncrude family where he worked for 42
years and created lifelong friendships.
Pete was born and
raised in Branch and achieved his lifelong dream of building his
forever home on his beloved Knapp overlooking the community. He spent
his summers there with Phyllis and their girls enjoying warm summer
days in the landwash, riding his ATV, berry picking, trouting and
other activities that he loved so well and shared with his family. His
world was complete with the arrival of his only grandchild, Mya Lynn,
in 2010; she brought a new purpose and much excitement to his life.
They had a special relationship and he taught her about collecting
sea-glass and other treasures, helping her with homework, taking her
for ice cream, and instilling in her a love of reading! Mya loved her
poppy and trusted him with all her heart. He was so proud of his
family.
Pete and Phyllis
moved to Alberta with two young children in 1980 and made a home and a
life as a family. Together they made numerous trips across the country
as they instilled in their daughters a love of Alberta and
Newfoundland and Labrador. A power engineer by profession, Pete rose
through the ranks at Syncrude. His admirable work ethic, his natural
leadership skills and his calm but effective interventions in any
crisis in the workplace led to his becoming a mentor to many
employees. He was well respected by his employer and despite
officially retiring in 2014, he was persuaded to return to work to
lend his wisdom and experience to various projects over the past few
years. He loved his work and the challenges that it presented to him.
Peter was known for how he could lead an entire shift of workers and
jobs but still show up with a smile and a light hearted joke at time.
Many very successful men and women admired him for his ability to show
respect to all and consider each and every person with empathy. He was
known as a man who could get the job done.
Pete will be
remembered as a quiet, gentle man and a gentleman, a loving husband, a
proud father and a devoted poppy. Peter was a reliable friend who was
a man of his word, not so easy to find anymore these days. He was
known for his love of country music, as an advocate of cowboy boots
and as a skilled handyman.
We will be bringing Pete home for a Celebration
of his Life in Branch, St. Mary’s Bay, Newfoundland, with
arrangements entrusted to Maher’s Funeral Home, Placentia, NL. A Vigil
Service will be held at Holy Rosary Church in Branch on Friday, June
10th at 7pm with the Rosary to follow. Mass of Christian
Burial to be held on Saturday, June 11th at 11am, followed by
inurnment at Holy Rosary Cemetery.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Peter G Nash 1956 2022..
