Pearl Crewe February 27 1921 January 26 2022

Pearl’s Obituary
Passed peacefully away at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Care Center, Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, Mrs. Pearl Crewe, age 100 years.
Pearl was born on February 27, 1921 in Campbellton, Notre Dame Bay. She was the first of five children born to Becil and Gladys Simmons. She spent her formative years in Campbellton and moved to Grand Falls-Windsor in her early twenties to work “in-service” for more affluent families. It was there that she met her future husband, Herbert Crewe. They were married in 1945 and spent 37 wonderful years together living in Humbermouth (Corner Brook), Campbellton, Deer Lake, and Lewisporte.
Pearl spent many hours focusing on her hobbies – gardening, knitting, crocheting, quilting, assembling jig-saw puzzles and scrapbooking. Her most favorite past-time, however, was dragging her only son over deep bogs and through hornets’ nests to go to the very best berry-picking spots.
Her relationship with God was also very important to her. She was very active in the church as a member of the choir, Women’s Missionary Council, and as a Crusader leader.
Pearl’s family and friends will forever remember her for her sharp wit, hilarious story-telling, selflessness, and (on very rare occasion) her stubbornness. She was well-respected and loved by all who knew her. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered. “Guaranteed” (as she would say).
Predeceased by her Husband, Herbert Crewe; Brothers, Augustus Simmons, Tom Simmons, Dotson Simmons, and Sister Hurlett (Simmons) Pinksen.
Left to Mourn with fond and loving memories Son, R. James Crewe (Karen); Grandson, Michael Crewe (Tina); Granddaughter, Danielle Crewe-Wyatt (Shane); Great-grandchildren, Aaron and Hannah Crewe.
The public visitation will take place from Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, 262 Main Street, Lewisporte, NL on Friday, January 28, 2022 from 11 AM-12 PM. To attend the visitation the NLVaxPass or documentation of vaccination along with a photo ID will be requested upon arrival.
The funeral service will take place from the Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, 262 Main Street, Lewisporte, NL at 1:30 PM.
