Paul Matheson Briggs
1933-2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Paul
Matheson Briggs at York Care Centre on January 1, 2022.
Paul was born in McAdam, June 30, 1933, and was the son of
the late Russell and Margaret (Estabrooks) Briggs. He is survived by
his wife Betty, son Mark, daughters Paula Briggs and Meghan Huestis,
grandaughters Ashley Briggs, Keely Briggs, Santana Briggs, Tahara
Briggs and grandson Mathewson Huestis. He was predeceased by his
parents; infant twin daughters Margaret and Elizabeth, and stepmother
Bessie (Bongard) Briggs.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the care
and love given to Paul during his stay at YorkCare Centre, Tower 3,
and a special thank you to his caregiver, Ellen Hurley Legere, for her
many years as part of our family.
Paul was the owner of Devon Pharmacy, where he appreciated
and valued all of his employees and customers. He was active in the
community as a member and volunteer of many organizations. Paul was
often recognized for his contributitions and this made his family very
proud.
Paul/Dad/Grandpa will be greatly missed. All of us touched
forever by his love, kindness, warmth, and humour. We miss you
already.
Respecting Paul’s wishes, there will be no
visitation or funeral service held. Private interment in Saint John
the Evangelist Anglican Cemetery will occur at a later
date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to York Care Foundation or the
Heart and Stroke Foundation will be appreciated by the
family.
