Obituary of Paul Kassay
Paul C. Kassay, JR, age 91.5
Born in Welland, April 3, 1931 – August 14, 2022
Wife of Peggy, Father to Debra, Paula and Christopher. Grandchildren Justin Sherk, Adam Sherk and great granchildren Austin, Brooke and Abigal Sherk. Paul is also survived by his Brother Tibor, nieces and nephews David, Michelle and Holly. Predeceased by his sister Margit and his parents, Paul kassay Sr. and Margit Kassay. He will be greatly missed by his dear friend, Rick Doan and his many friends and acquaintances. Paul passed away August 14th, 2022 surrounded by his family. Paul was born in Welland and the Family moved to Crystal Beach to run a Tourist Home. He started work at his family’s Derby Market and while there started working for the local Photographer Harry Woolever where he learned his trade and started Edgewood Studio. He photographed many hundreds of weddings, school pictures, passports and also started to take photos and film of news events for local, Buffalo and Toronto papers and TV stations. He was also deeply involved in the Community, serving on the RCB Kinsmen, The Friends of Crystal Beach, Memories of Crystal Beach Events and co- produced 2 videos on Crystal Beach Park The Life and Times of Crystal Beach and Thanks for the Memories. To many he was known as “Mr. Crystal Beach” and will be missed by all. “The Memory Lingers on”. A memorial service will take place at St. George Catholic Church, Crystal Beach, 11 AM on Thursday September 1, 2022. Celebration to take place at the Ridgeway Legion Branch #230 for 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gilmore Lodge
