Obituary
Paul Hudye, beloved husband of the late Pauline Hudye, passed away in Los Cabos, Mexico on Monday, February 28, 2022, at the age of 98.
Paul was born to Nicola and Anelia (Kowalchuk) Hudye on June 12, 1923, in Canora, Saskatchewan. Born into a large family, Paul had eleven siblings.
On June 16, 1947, Paul was united in marriage to Pauline Gazdewich and together they raised five children. They bought land between Veregin and Norquay, cleared it, built a homestead and farmed in that area until they retired and moved to Kamsack. He was always an early innovator in new farming practices. He was one of the first farmers in the area to buy a self-propelled combine in the early 1950’s. He was always counted on for keeping the roads in their area cleaned of snow with his tractor and blade. He continued this practice into his retirement and was even seen blowing out his own driveway this past winter.
As well as work, Paul enjoyed sports, he played baseball in his youth and curled in the winters while living on the farm. After retirement he enjoyed watching baseball and wrestling on TV and his frequent trips to Yorkton to visit the Casino. He also enjoyed travelling, visiting various parts of Canada as well as Hawaii, Mexico, Arizona and California.
More than this, Paul is best defined as a kind, generous and humble man. He devoted his life to his family, his community and his church. He assisted the school district when his children were young, even plowing a dugout of snow so everyone could play hockey and skate. He willingly helped the church parishes they belonged to, assisting at bingo, and whatever needed doing. He was a Knight of Columbus. He most generously gave of his time and expected nothing in return.
He taught his family the benefits of good work ethic and to celebrate your successes. Family meant the world to him; he was always proud of everyone. As life takes us to the next chapter, we will carry him in our hearts forever.
He is survived and lovingly remembered by his, daughters Avaleen Nycz (Edmonton) and children Ernest Paul (Cary) ( Plano, Texas) and Jason (Calgary); Carol Lund (Edmonton) and daughter Allyson (Edmonton); Theresa (Ron) Nykolaishen (Madge Lake) and children Nolan (Stefanie) (Madge Lake) Chad (Shayla) (Swan River) and Chris (Jozi) (Kamsack); and sons Greg (Lori) (Madge Lake) children Jana (Jason) (Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico), Amanda (Whiterock, BC), Nathan (Chrissy)(Madge Lake); Ben (Carol) (Madge Lake), and children Braden (Danielle) (Kelowna), Fallon (Scottsdale, Arizona), James (Scottsdale, Arizona) and Jennifer (Alex) (San Diego, California). His great grandchildren, Dalton, Cooper, Marshall, Leo, Tyler, Will, Tommy, Poppy, Oliver, Finley, Jacob, Brynn, Avery, Mason, Hayley, Ella, Brooks and Sutton. His sisters Dorothy Attwoll, Vicky Baron, and Mary Marchinko, and his brother Frank Hudy; as well numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Paul was predeceased by parents Nicola and Anelia Hudye, his wife Pauline, brothers: Joe, Peter, Mike and Nick: his siters: Lena, Anne, Margaret and two sisters in infancy.
