April 1, 1941 – May 22, 2022
Patricia Yvonne Shalapata passed away at the age of 81, on May 22, 2022 at the Nokomis Health Centre surrounded by her daughters.
Patricia (Patti) was born April 1, 1941 in Nokomis Saskatchewan. She was the youngest of eleven children of Anastasia and Alexander Shalapata. She was pre-deceased by her siblings Mike, Tilly, Maria, Paul, Anne, Steve, Joe, Julie, Irene, and Roy; and one son Miles Tuscher. She is survived by her children: Jim Tuscher (Lenora), Anna-Marie Hutter (Kelly), Debra Tuscher, Ginette Dyke (Stephen); grandchildren: Jeff, Aaron, Rebekka, Dirk, and Raven (Debra), Abigail and Jackson (Ginette); great-grandchildren:
Roman (Jeff), Dani and Elle-Freya (Rebekka), Harlequin and Alvah (Raven).
Patti loved spending time in her garden. She loved animals and nature, especially her dog, cat, and birds. She was passionate about preserving Canadian, Ukrainian and First Nations history and culture. She was an advocate for the community and truly loved Nokomis. Her causes lead her to champion for those in need. Patti was an avid reader, a writer of short stories, and a poet, which led her to become a frequent contributor in the Nokomis Last Mountain Times. She loved debating and would often call in to the CBC talk radio program.

A Private Family Funeral will take place on Friday May 27, 2022 at the McDougall Funeral Home in Nokomis Saskatchewan. Private Family Interment in Nokomis Cemetery.

  1. My father Paul would refer to Aunt Pat as his “kid sister” with 17 years between them. Our deepest condolence on the passing of Aunt Pat.
