Patsy Jean Plett
Patsy Jean Plett, we’re going to miss you more than we can say! We’re glad you are no longer suffering, of course, but it’s hard to reconcile that with the immeasurable hole your absence leaves in our hearts and our lives. If home was sometimes like a spinning wheel, you were the hub. We’ll do our best to keep the wheel going, but it’s going to be wobbly for a while.
Pat’s journey with cancer went about as good as could be imagined. She enjoyed remarkably good health for most of her life, requiring ongoing care outside of her home only in the final four days of her time with us. Small but mighty – that was mom! She will be missed by many, and most acutely by her kids Tim (Corinne), Larry (Michelle), Greg (Char) and Karen, her ten grandchildren and their spouses/partners, her two great grandchildren, and her extended family.
When Pat’s family members were invited to choose words that represented the ways they experienced her, the list was anchored by steadfast, caring, optimistic, wise, grateful, generous, thoughtful, positive, warm, selfless, and witty. These descriptors were nestled into an affirming bundle made up of words like creative, humble, sincere, resilient, bold, intentional, devoted, and more. Oh yeah…plus great hair and scuffles. She found myriad ways to bring those beautiful character traits into the lives of both people and organizations. Her deep and abiding faith was often the centerpiece of those relationships and endeavors. It was her grounded beliefs that gave her peace and comfort in every trial, as well as freedom to celebrate each joyful occasion. She embodied the upward spiral of the link between joy and gratitude without denying the hard parts.
As a family, we want to (once again) thank those at St. Paul’s Hospital Palliative Care who provided kind, competent, and sensitive care to mom in the final days of her life. We would ask that in lieu of flowers, you consider a gift to St. Paul’s Palliative Care (www.stpaulshospital.org/foundation/about/).
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Patsy Jean Plett 2022..
