Obituary of Patrick Alfred Read
It is with a heavy heart that the family of Patrick Alfred Read, Beaconsfield (Bridgetown), N.S. share his sudden passing at home on Thursday, August 11th, 2022.
He was born in Castlegar (which is in the west Kootneay region of British Colombia) March 21st, 1962 to Alfred and Rita. He was a Veteran (Able Seaman) of the Canadian Navy (1981-1986). He spent the balance of his career with the Department of National Defense as a Stationery Engineer until his recent retirement. Pat and his wife of 22 years Wendy, relocated from Sooke, B.C. to Nova Scotia, a few years ago.
He was predeceased by his parents. He leaves behind his loving wife Wendy (nee Bugbee) of Beaconsfield, two adult step-children, Joshua Adam Larkin (Saint Andrews, N.S.) and Leta Newmarket (San Diego, CA), and one step-grandson, Aidan. He loved them all dearly and they, him.
Pat was an avid outdoorsman with a love of backpacking, hiking, and fishing. Pat was an incredibly hard worker and 100% dependable. He had a caring heart and will be missed beyond words by his beloved Wendy and his family.

  1. I’m a better person today because i had Pat as my dad. He was a wonderful guy and took great care of me and my mom. He looked out for me in every way and everyone who knew him loved him. I never expected I would lose a parent so young and I miss him desperately.
