Obituary
Lynne Patricia Morris
Born March 9, 1943- passed away peacefully November 19, 2022 at 79
Forever loved. Never forgotten.
She is survived by her beloved husband Willard, sister Carroll Ann (Rodney), daughter Patricia, son Robert, grandchildren: Amanda (Jeff), Leigh(Lindsey) and Daniel(Corina); great grandchildren: Eve, Abigail, Braedyn, Jackson and Rylee; and many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her parents Angeline and Fitzroy and her brother Michael.
Lynne was born in Winnipeg but raised in Jasper. She was an accomplished ski racer, played the trombone in the high school band and loved the majesty of the mountains and lakes. The mountains inspired her favorite colors, purple, green and white. These colors are echoed throughout her lifestyle. Jasper and the friendships that she made there were her happy place and were never far from her thoughts.
She spent most of her career as an executive assistant and was highly valued for her professionalism, organization and efficiency, However her passion for cooking and food soon led her to become the owner and operator of The Plumberry Cafe in Calgary and then Knottingham Diner in Sylvan Lake with her husband Willard. When you came to her table you did not just get a meal you got a culinary experience. She retired in 2001 when they sold Knottingham’s to pursue her dreams of writing and painting. Some of Lynne’s work was published and a story she wrote was read on CBC Anthology. Her artwork is proudly displayed in her home for friends and family to enjoy.
Nothing was too much trouble. Her garden was breathtaking, she sewed like a seamstress, she was a prolific knitter and crafter. She was obsessed with books (and shoes) and had an expansive collection. She adored hunting for antiques and restoring them and has many beautiful pieces displayed at home. Everything she did, she did with her whole heart and would not stop until it was finished but her crowning glory was her family. The people she loved were her whole world and there was nothing she would not do for them. She always instilled in them to be the best they could be and she was everyone’s biggest cheerleader.
Lynne was the kind of person who did not just live life. She made every moment magical. Her zest for life, incredible imagination, unique perspective on life and commitment to family were her driving forces. In the loving words of her husband, she was “one helluva gal”
The family will be having a private memorial as per her wishes but will plan a celebration of her life at a later date.
