Obituary for
Olga Fauteux (DiFant)
The family announces with sorrow her peaceful passing at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on Thursday, June 16, 2022 after she lived a beautiful and dignified life. Predeceased by her husband Rudy in 1994 who adored her and together they raised their three children Deborah McCausland (late Ken – 2016), Rick (Liisa) and Paul (Michelle). She was a loving Nonna to her beautiful grandchildren Renee Carnovale (Gary), Niina Fauteux, John Fauteux, Nicholas Fauteux and great-grandson Dean Payne. Olga was predeceased by her brother Edward DiFant in 2020. Olga loved her childhood, she was born and raised in Schumacher and was very proud of her Italian heritage. She was a member of the first St. Mary’s graduation class of registered nurses in Timmins, Ontario in 1948. Olga went on to become the head nurse of the emergency department at St. Mary’s Hospital where she excelled at her work and was admired for her dedication. She then went on to be an x-ray technician at the Porcupine General Hospital where she retired. Olga was famous for her pasta sauce and pasta dinners that were thoroughly enjoyed by family and friends. A devout Catholic from her St. Alphonsus Church in Schumacher, she then was a parishioner at St. Alfred’s Church in St. Catharines, where she had relocated in 1996. Her journey led her to the River Road Retirement Residence where she was cared for with the utmost dignity and compassion, and then to the Greater Niagara General Hospital where she passed away peacefully. Interment will be held at the Timmins Memorial Cemetery at a later date. Remembrance donations to the Niagara Health Foundations “It’s Our Future” fundraising campaign would be appreciated.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Olga
