Obituary
Unexpectedly on Saturday, October 1, 2022, our mother passed away at the age of 98. She is survived by sons Dale (Judy) and Barry, sisters Jean Basnicki, Stella Misurka, brother Ernie Wizniak, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 48 years Alex Weselowski, parents Alex and Tillie Wizniak, brothers Bill, Harry, Albert, Edward, and sister Helen.
Olga was born on Dec 29, 1923, in Fishing River. She attended school at Fishing River, then moved to Sifton where she completed her high school. In Sifton, she was employed at Kennedy’s Red & White store and Custom Woolen Mills. She then moved to Dauphin where she was employed with the F.W. Woolworth store. On July 27, 1954, she married Alex and later moved to Winnipeg where they raised their two sons. Olga loved to do tatting, crocheting, knitting, sewing and all sorts of handicrafts. She always had a large garden from which she made lots of delicious traditional Ukrainian foods. A special thank you to Irene and Marj for all their help in Mom’s later years.
Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 727 Bannerman Ave. on Thursday, October 6 at 10:00 am, with interment to follow at Holy Family Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church or a charity of one’s choice.
