Obituary
Norman passed away peacefully in his sleep at home.
Born on January 19, 1933, he was the son of the late Frederick and Alice Hartwick.
Norman loved, was loved and will be deeply missed by; his four children Donald (Carol) Hartwick, Debra (Boyd) Harris, Leonard (Maureen) Hartwick and Linda Hartwick; ten grandchildren Tara Belland (Vaughan Henning), Steffan (Sinead) Hartwick, Megan (Ryan) Blades, Shauna Hartwick (Doug Comperen), Erinn (Sammy) Seroya, Carley (Matthew) Wilson, Travis Harris (Kassy Cocker), Ryan King, Cody, and Christie, as well as fifteen great grandchildren- Brady, Michael, Wilde, Orion, Traevin, McKenzie, Willow, Silas, Jacob, Taylor, Kieran, Aiden, Brielle, Monica, and Kaia, in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Dad {Grandpa, GP} met the love his life Margaret {Mom, Grandma, GG}, while attending grade school in High River. Norman graduated High School and went on to attend Olds College, graduating in the 1950s from the Agriculture program, before starting his lengthy career in the Oil&Gas Industry. Dad and Mom were married in 1957 and moved many times during their marriage before settling back in High River.
Dad spent numerous hours volunteering with the United Church, Meals on Wheels and with the Palliative Care Program, driving patients to Calgary for Cancer treatments and he spent countless hours sitting with patients during their final hours.
Dad was predeceased by his wife Margaret (Laverty), both his parents, brother Grant (Rose) Hartwick, sisters Marion (Norman) Kinnear, Gwen (John) Miller, brothers-in-law Glen Morrison, Edward Laverty, and Donald Laverty. He is survived by his sister Jean Morrison, his sisters-in-law Donna Laverty and Martha Laverty.
A Celebration of his life will be held at the George Lane Memorial Park (Gazebo), 323 Macleod Trail SW, High River, on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. Rev. David Robertson officiating. Reception to follow. In the event of poor weather, the venue will change to the High River United Church.
