Obituary
We are saddened to announce that we lost our dear Mum, Norma Cooper (Mayes, nee McKissock) on June 7, 2022, just a month shy of her 95th birthday. She was at her home at Village by the Station in Penticton, BC at the time of her passing. While hers was a life well lived, the toll of the last five years of dementia shut off the light on a determined, dignified and feisty individual who loved her family deeply.
Our Mum was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star and lived by the principles of the five-pointed star – fidelity, constancy, loyalty, faith and love, bound together with patience, hope and charity. She gave us so much love and support and we will miss her very much.
Mum was predeceased by our Dad (Ben), her second husband, David, brother, Bill and many long time friends she made in places along her journey – North Vancouver, Sullivan Bay, Salmon Arm, Ottawa, Kamloops and Penticton.
Left to remember her smile and the lessons she taught us are daughter, Pat (Art), son, Blair (Kathy); David’s daughter, Glenna (Nigel) and son, Sean (Char); grandchildren, Stephanie (Amos) and Curtis (Tara) and great-granddaughter, Briella.
We want to thank Mum’s Doctor Killian for his compassion and professionalism with Mum’s health care along with the staff at the Village by the Station for the kindness, gentleness and respect that you gave to our Mum during her time with you. You are all angels on earth.
While we will plan a family memorial and spreading of Mum’s ashes in the near future, in lieu of flowers we ask that you take an opportunity to do a random act of kindness for a person that needs a helping hand.
“Miss me a little – but not too long,
And not with your head bowed low,
Remember the love that we once shared,
Miss me – but let me go.”
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Norma Patricia Cooper July 12 1927 June 7 2022 (age 94)..
