Nathan Bernstein 2022

Nathan Bernstein
At home, on Wednesday, November 30, 2022. Much loved husband of Janice Woodfine. ‘Pops’ of Jesse (Shelan Markus) and Sarah (Robin Irvine). Grandpa of Hugo. Big brother of Gordie, Itsie, and Hannah. A gifted teacher, both professionally and personally, he taught us how to love the sound of language and poetry through ‘King Lear’ and ‘Jelly Belly’. He passed on his love of ‘Waiting for Godot’, cozy mysteries, chocolate, condiments, party sandwiches, and Billy’s smoked meat. Everyone who met Nathan was struck by his generosity. He talked to everybody. Nathan was beloved by his neighbours, bank tellers, his kids’ friends, and, most importantly, by his family. He was the epitome of what every father should be and will be deeply missed. The family would like to thank Dr. Jed Lipes, Dr. Jason Agulnick, and Nurse Tara Jesion at the Jewish General Hospital, as well as Nurse Sophie Morin, Dr. Maryse Fournier, Annie Binet, and all the wonderful carers at the CLSC de Parc-Extension Palliative Care Unit and at NOVA. Their gentle care made his final days at home comfortable and peaceful. A private graveside service to take place. In Lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Chez Doris, (514) 937-2341.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Nathan Bernstein 2022..
