ALLEN, Nancy E.
Pictou / Plymouth
May 12, 1955-August 25, 2022
Nancy Evelyn (Heron) Allen passed away peacefully in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow after a long battle with COPD on August 25, 2022. She was a daughter of the late Roland and Pansy (Brooks) Heron and grew up in the heights in Pictou. She raised two sons, Chris (Kara) of Plymouth, NS and Darren (Misty) of North Alton, NS and was the proud Nan to Chris and Kara’s son, Jude, who was her pride and joy. She loved spoiling Jude and would often leave Kinder Surprise Eggs in funny places around her house for him to find. She is also survived by her sisters, Susan (Tom) Bowman of New Glasgow; Diane Aitchison with whom she lived with in Plymouth; Sandra Barrett of New Glasgow, and brother, Gary of Ontario. She is also survived by close cousin, Agnes; niece, “Little” Nancy and nephews, Graham, Stephen, Dwayne, and Jasper, as well as grand niece and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents and brothers, Grant Stephen Heron and Gordon “Gord Boy” Heron. Nancy was a huge fan of Coronation Street. You could not call or visit during Corrie and if you did show up you were politely told to “Go…Coronation’s On!” And when asked later how the episode was, she would often say “oh, it was gooood!” One of her favourite moments over the past few years was going to see “The Factory Girls” at the deCoste Centre and even got to meet them and get her photo taken with them. She also enjoyed watching home improvements shows, especially Chip & Joanna. HGTV was always on, until Coronation Street came on of course! Nancy’s wishes were to have a private family burial of ashes at Haliburton Cemetery, Pictou where she will rest with her parents and brothers. Graveside arrangements under the direction of McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou in the coming weeks. The family would like to extend a thank you to the EMS, the nurses and doctors at the Aberdeen Hospital in Emergency and 4th Floor for their care and compassion. Special thanks to nurses who looked after her with love during her final days in Palliative Care, we are eternally grateful for your amazing way of easing all of our pain. Donations can be made to the Palliative Care at the Aberdeen Hospital 835 East River Road, New Glasgow, NS B2H 3S6.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Nancy
