MYRTLE CHUTE PASSES AWAY
AT AGE 100
CHUTE, Myrtle Irene ~ Age 100, of Victoria Vale, Annapolis Co., passed away on Friday, January 14, 2022, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Myrtle was born on August 16, 1921, in Prince Albert, Annapolis Co., and was a daughter of the late Ernest V. and Amy E. (Breslyn) Reagh. She will be sadly missed by son, Danny Chute (Leona), Port Lorne; daughters, Marion (Carl) Banks, New Germany; Suzanne (Ron) Brinton, Wilmot; Cathleen Veinot (Stafford Sanford), Aylesford; Molly McLaughlin, Centreville; granddaughters, Ronda Griggs, Brenda Veinot, Tanya Veinot, Angela Veinot and Michelle McLaughlin; grandsons, Chris Hamilton, Derek Hamilton, Glen Chute, Stephen Caldwell, Charlie Brinton and Donny McLaughlin; 17 great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Kathryn Reagh and Avis Chute; nephew, Jackie (Clara) Reagh; nieces, Noreen Reagh and Dianne McDonald; special cousin, Nancy Lee (Will) Mason; special friends, Frank Dobbin and Gladys MacKinnon. Besides her parents, Myrtle was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Charles E. Chute; daughter, Charlene Hamilton; sons-in-law, Wayne Hamilton and Donald McLaughlin; grandchildren, William Comeau and Stella Hamilton; brothers, Jack Reagh, Roy Laybolt and Mont Murphy; sisters, Noreen Reagh in infancy and Helen McNeil. Mom and dad enjoyed yard sales and taking short trips. Dad became bedridden and mom single handedly cared for him during his last six and a half years. Mom enjoyed doing crafts. She made apple dolls, could knit and crochet and made quilts. At the age of 61, she took lessons, learning to oil paint. Both her quilts and paintings won many prizes at the Lawrencetown Exhibition. When mom was in her 80’s, she started taking music lessons and took them for 15 years. She learned to play guitar, mandolin, key-board and lastly banjo. At the age of 92, Myrtle made a music CD that included 10 of her own original country songs. She attended many jam sessions throughout the valley with her daughters. Mom was a lifetime member of Victoria Vale Baptist Church, and she had a strong faith. There will be no visitation or service at this time. Interment will take place in Church Grove Cemetery, Melvern Square, at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to Victoria Vale Baptist Church or Victoria Vale Cemetery.
