Myrna Humphreys
1940-2022
With heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Myrna
Ellen Humphreys in the intensive care unit of the Aberdeen Hospital on
October 21, 2022. She left us after a long and courageous battle with
Parkinson’s disease. She was in her 83rd
year.
Myrna was born in Trenton, Nova Scotia on January 13, 1940,
the youngest of five and daughter of Robert and Myra (Tanner)
Marsh.
Myrna met her soulmate, Lane, at a very young age, later
marrying and living 63 years of life together, raising their 3
children, Tracey, Jock and Sean.
She was a lifelong resident of Trenton and educated in
Trenton schools. She graduated a yearlong secretarial course in New
Glasgow and was subsequently employed at Scotiabank Trenton, Railway
and Power in New Glasgow, and with Pat King Realty. After acquiring
her realtor licence, she soon discovered selling real estate was not
her cup of tea. It was then she began her dream job of working as a
secretary at Trenton Elementary School. This was the job from which
she retired, then moving on to enjoying full time involvement with her
grandchildren.
Myrna was a member of the First United Church, Trenton, and
former choir member. She was an avid volunteer in the town of Trenton
and beloved throughout the community. She was a CGIT leader, Trenton
Seniors Club Choir Director, and Youth and Spirit Choir Director.
Myrna was also the first female elder at the United Church Trenton.
For many years, she was honoured to sing as a soloist at many weddings
and funerals. Music was a huge part of Myrna’s
life.
Before Parkinson’s took over, Myrna loved to travel
with her husband and later her children. Besides visiting her kids in
Ontario and “Out West”, some of her favourite trips
were to Halifax shopping for deals, often accompanied by her sister
Jeanette and Pup as chauffer. And boy, could she shop, especially at
Frenchy’s, Value Village, and any thrift store, always
bringing home clothes for others. Myrna also enjoyed oil painting and
created many paintings for her family. She enjoyed crafting and sewing
and made many prom dresses and clothing. Nanny loved to play TV bingo
on Thursday nights with the “Bingo
Girls”. She also enjoyed her crossword
puzzles and solitaire. Myrna had a snappy fashion sense, she loved
blingy jewelry and was always dressed to the
“nines”. Myrna accepted her Parkinson’s
disease with humor and grace. She will be greatly missed by her
family, extended family, chosen family and friends.
Myrna is survived by her soulmate, Lane; son, Jock (John);
sister, Jeanette Robertson; sister in-law, Nancy Sharpe;
grandchildren: Johni (David) MacDonald; Marshall (Colleen); Patrick
(Kelly) Humphreys and their mother, Patty Wells; Tanner (Andrea)
Leger; Ty (Amanda) Leger; Ella and Sophi Humphreys and their mother
Lisa MacDonald; great grandchildren: Ewan and Bennett, Everly and
Brooke, Cole and Jake; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews,
cousins and extended family.
She was predeceased by her parents; brother, Ron Marsh;
sister, Barbara Marsh; sister, Roberta (in infancy); daughter, Tracey
Marsh Leger; son, Sean Lane Humphreys; brothers in-law: Dale Humphreys
and Rollie Robertson.

Funeral Home, 73 High St., Trenton. Funeral service 2pm Wednesday,
October 26, in First United Church, Trenton, with Reverend Rosemary
Godin officiating, assisted by Fergie MacKay. Donations may be made to

Doctor Spencer Barkley, members of her VON care team, the Burns girls,
and loving care from niece Amy and devoted sister Jeanette, Myrna was
able to remain in her home until the final hours of her
life.
