Obituary For Murray Allan Metituk
March 9, 1951 – October10, 2022
We are extremely saddened to say that Murray Allan Metituk, resident of Wembley, passed away suddenly on October 10, 2022, near his home, at the age of 71. He was born in Grande Prairie on March 9, 1951.
Murray lived in the Wembley area all his of life and this resulted in lifelong friendships and many shared memories. He was a man who wore many hats over the years, working in the logging and construction industries. He operated loaders, cranes, and graders for years.
When he was 44, he struck out on his own and purchased a portable sawmill that he took to various locations, making lumber for others, until he set up permanently at the farm where he continued to saw and sell lumber, along with his summer occupation of making square hay bales and his winter love of giving horse-drawn sleigh rides. All these activities meant that he met many people who became his friends. After he gave up sleigh rides, driving and riding horses continued to occupy any leisure time he had. He enjoyed walking and spent many, many hours touring the banks of Pipestone Creek and hiking in the mountains.
Over the years Murray got enjoyment from dancing, quadding, hunting, fishing and, when his grandchildren came on the scene, he enjoyed his very best years with them. He loved taking them fishing, camping, watching their hockey games, going to Brynnlie’s riding lessons and spending time with them around the farm. He loved being a grampa, sharing his knowledge of the outdoors, a good farmer fix and telling stories that will live on forever.
Murray will be sorely missed by his loving wife Rene, daughter Rhea (Haewon), son Devin (Amber), grandchildren Jaxon, Corbin, and Brynnlie, daughter-in-law Sandi, siblings Ellen Desnoyer, Garth (Rose Koll, Mansell (Sue) Koll, Sharon Mazurkewich, Mike (Brenda) Metituk, Ted (Barb) Metituk, Debbie (Les) Pellerin, Vicki (Reid) Metituk, extended family Marilyn (Randy) Grubb, Judy (Gary) Brent, Mike (Linda) Brent, Janet (Harold) Cardinal, Bryan (Paulette) Taylor and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
Murray was predeceased by his parents, Vic and Lois Metituk, in-laws Tom and Lois Brent, brother Forrest Koll and sisters Beryl Budesheim and Karen Nielsen, brothers-in-law Roland Desnoyer, Doug Russill, Jim Mazurkewich, sister-in-law Joyce Koll, sister-in-law Edie Taylor, and brother-in-law John Brent.
