Muriel’s Obituary
NEW GLASGOW – Muriel Georgina Skinner, 92, Valley View Villa, Riverton, formerly of New Glasgow, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, February 9, 2022, in the Villa.
Born in Isaac’s Harbour North, she was a daughter of the late Frank Leslie and Effie Ivilla (Clyburne) MacDonald. Muriel was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow and Catherine Mair Missionary Society. A member of Clan Donald, she had a keen interest in her Scottish ancestry, which included studying Gaelic and all things Scottish. Muriel was a member of the 55 Plus Club where she enjoyed playing the ukulele and line dancing. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who leaves a legacy of love.
Surviving are her daughter, Dorothy (Brian) Ostroski, Moncton, N.B.; sons, Colin, New Glasgow; David (Kelli), New Glasgow; Wade (Lori), Clyde River; grandchildren, Jared Ostroski, Sara Skinner (Brian Winger), Matthew and Justin Skinner; great-grandsons, Conrad and Ian Winger; niece, Lorna Kennedy; several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John C. H. Skinner; sister, Lydia Graham and Elizabeth Kennedy; twin brothers, Paul and Alexander.
A private funeral service will be held in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home Chapel, New Glasgow with Rev. Dr. Glen Matheson officiating. Interment will be in Valley View Cemetery, East River St. Mary’s.
