Obituary
In the early morning hours of December 30, 2022, heaven gained a very special angel. With her family by her side and in the arms of her mom, Morgan Anita-Marie DeBaets, left this earth to begin the next part of her journey.
Morgan was born on October 9, 2003 into the most incredible, loving, caring and supportive family. She leaves to honour and love her, mom and dad Michelle and Lionel DeBaets, big sister Cassandra (Cassie), grandparents, Harvey and Linda Bassett, Anita DeBaets and Frank Janzen, aunts and uncles Darlene (Gary) Momotiuk, Sheila (Menno) DeBaets, Cathy (Bill) Thiessen, special uncle Jim Bird and her cousins Nicole (Daniel) Thacker, Hannah and Brodyn Momotiuk as well as many extended family members. She will also be forever missed and loved by her special caregivers Crystal Hominiuk and Angela Kotyk as well as many other caregivers, respite workers, her school family at Gilbert Plains Elementary, friends and community members.
Morgan was a warrior and a fighter. She suffered through many health conditions, treatments and surgeries but always endured. She was so strong and loving and only saw with her heart. She knew no hatred or prejudice and saw people’s souls and hearts. She never looked at the outside as it was what was inside that counted. She made many friends along her journey here, she touched so many lives and hearts. Morgan will be loved and remembered always.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a trust account at the Gilbert Plains branch of Fusion Credit Union for the children’s music therapy program at the children’s hospital. This will ensure that her favorite music therapist, Cecile, will be able provide music therapy for other children staying in the hospital.
A celebration of Morgan’s life will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at 1:00 pm from the Gilbert Plains Community Hall. The celebration will be livestreamed and available through the link below at service time.
