MOORE, Richard “Dick” Henry
February 15, 1938 — August 5, 2022
Dick Moore passed away peacefully at Brookhaven Care Home (in Kelowna, BC) on August 5, 2022, at the age of 84 years. He is survived by Gail Bengough, his “Baby Sister” as he referred to her his whole life; as well as by his nephew Brandon (Bryn) and their son Jesse; his nephew Lance (Lisa) and their daughter Emily and son Max; his niece Darci (Terry); and many godchildren. He was predeceased by Betty Moore in 2006, his beloved mother.
Born and raised in Kitsilano in Vancouver, BC, Dick was proud to be a Kits kid. Throughout his school years, he enjoyed playing rugby and forged lasting friendships with his teammates. He was part owner of some racehorses, which he was incredibly proud of. He had a soft spot for all 4-legged friends.
Dick enjoyed a lifelong career with Burrard/Allied shipbuilders in North Vancouver, BC. To be closer to his mother and sister, after retirement he bought a beautiful home overlooking Wood Lake, which also reflected his love of nature.
Although he was soft-spoken, he was a good storyteller with a strong sense of family history and a mischievous sense of humour.
The family would like to thank the staff at Brookhaven, who made his final year as comforting as possible.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the SPCA.
