Mona Jefferies
1959-2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mona
Jefferies of Shediac. Mona passed away on July 18, 2022 after a short
and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Badger, Newfoundland, she
was the daughter of the late Percy Jefferies and Una
Manuel.
Mona will be dearly missed by her son Nicholas Landry (Sarah
Kanhai), daughter Manon Landry (Christopher Cheverie), brother Ivan
Jefferies (Vicky), step-mother Leah Jefferies, nephews, and
cousins.
From sitting with patients in palliative care during their
precious final moments, to teaching people how to read and write
through the Shediac Library, Mona’s compassionate nature
touched many lives. Mona also volunteered and assisted with fund
raising for the Vestiaire St-Joseph (Shediac Regional Food Bank), and
was a member of New Brunswick Crime Stoppers for over 20 years. Mona
was a kind-hearted woman who always put others before
herself.
Professionally, Mona was employed with the Government of
Canada Pension Centre from the age of 18, where she made many lifelong
friends. She retired at age 55 after a fulfilling and successful
career.
Following her retirement, Mona enjoyed spending her time with
her children, cooking, gardening, reading, and taking care of her
beloved pets. She will be greatly missed and will forever be in our
hearts.
Honouring Mona’s love for animals, donations made
to the Moncton SPCA would be appreciated by her family.
Respecting the wishes of Mona and her family, there will be
no visitation or funeral service. Her arrangements have been entrusted
to Cobb’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 330 Whitepine
Road, Riverview (869-2007). Online condolences may be
expressed at www.cobbsfuneralhome.ca
