It is with deep sadness we announce the
peaceful passing of Mildred K. Nixon, one
month shy of her 95th birthday, of Amherst, NS. Mildred
passed away on Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at Gables
Lodge.
Born in Amherst, NS, she was a daughter
of the late Bertram and Winnifred (McCully) McKay.
Mildred will be dearly missed by her
children Joan (Andy) Fotis, Halifax, NS; Paula (Mike) LaRusic,
Amherst, NS. Son ; Doug (June), Dartmouth, NS; daughter in law
Charlene Nixon, Ottawa, ON; eight grandchildren and twelve great
grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband
Donald “Donnie”; eldest son Gerald
“Gerry”. The last surviving member of her
immediate family, she was also predeceased by siblings Carl, Kenneth
“Teddy”, Ronnie, Lena Blakney, and Isabella
McKay.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the
Jones Family Funeral Centre, 70 Church
St, Amherst, NS (902-667-8777). Funeral Mass will be
celebrated on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at 11 am from the Holy
Family Roman Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the St.
Charles-Nativity Catholic Cemetery.
