New Glasgow : Michael Melvin Austin age 72 of New Glasgow passed away on August 26th ,2022 at home. Born in New Glasgow on May 18th1950 , he was a son of the late Jack and Mary “Winnie” (Avery) Austin of New Glasgow. In earlier years Mike loved golfing and earned bragging rights for scoring a hole-in-one at Abercrombie Country Club. His greatest joys were his children and grandchildren, Kaleigh and Kyle. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him. He is survived by his son Brian of Fredericton , N.B.; daughter Michelle (Pat) ,Lousana ,Alta ,grandchildren Kaleigh and Kyle ,Alta, his friend and ex-spouse Debbie Austin of New Glasgow ,his siblings Brent (Marie) ,Calgary Alta and Gary of Halifax, brother-in-law Scott(Gaile)MacDougall of New Glasgow; sisters-in-law Gail MacDougall of Halifax ,Darlene MacDougall of New Glasgow and Susan Austin of Edmonton ,Alta , several nieces and nephews. Mike was predeceased by his parents ,brother Glen Austin ,sister-in-law Cheryl Kyle (Greg) and brother-in-law Barry MacDougall. Mike’s wishes were for cremation and no funeral service. The family will celebrate his life at a later date.
