Michael Vincent Bartlett
It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that we, the family, of Michael (Mick) Bartlett mourn his
passing. Michael passed away on Saturday August 6, 2022 at Cape Breton Hospice after a 20
Plus year battle with cancer. Michael was born in Sydney on June 16, 1945 to the late Jim and
Kay Bartlett.
Michael is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Sheila (MacDougall) and their 2 sons Darren
(Andy), Michael (Krystal), and was predeceased by their son James. He is also survived by his
siblings Pat (Betty), Sandra (Jimmy), Jimmy (Evelyn), Geraldine (Ken), Bruce (Kim).
Grandchildren Lindsey (Devon), Tristan (Mel), Angela, Jordan, Blair, Morgan (Tyler), Shelby,
Makynli, and great granddaughter Maisie, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Michael worked at the Sydney Steel Plant for 38 years until his retirement. Michael was a
dedicated volunteer who believed in giving back to his community. He was a Lifetime member of
the Sydney Kinsmen Club for over 45 years. He was Deputy Governor of the Sydney Kinsmen
Club for 5 years, as well as a Board member of the Horizon Achievement Centre for several
years. He also volunteered with the Sydney Minor Hockey Association. He was a valued member and Chairman of the Ann Terry Curl for Cancer for 12 years and because of his contributions, The Men of the Deeps made him an honorary member. He was a member of Branch 138 Ashby Legion and a proud member of Cape Breton Antique & Custom Car.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Cape Breton Hospice for their compassion and care.
There will be a funeral mass to celebrate the life of Michael at St. Theresa’s Church on August
10,2022 at 11a.m, a reception to follow at St. Theresa’s Hall with burial at Resurrection
Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Michael’s name to Cape Breton Hospice or a charity
of your choice.
