Mike was born in Peterborough on March 17, 1970. As a loving brother and son, from an early age he was always dedicated to caring for and protecting his family. Those values carried over to his professional life. He worked tirelessly for over 20 years on behalf of residents in long term care and most recently retirement homes. Throughout those years his dedication and passion shone in his role of Director and currently Regional Facilities Manager for Greenwood Retirement Communities. Each day he ensured he took care of the person and not just the issue he was addressing so they could enjoy their life to the fullest.
He was always the first to offer to help a friend or neighbour. He never thought twice about helping others, acting before asked and proud to be there for anyone in need. He was the “go to” person, the answer to so many questions, the person we could count on, the response was always “call Mike”. He spent many an hour working on projects around his home to make it the sanctuary where he treasured the time to spend with Mary, Alisha and Tony. He was the happiest when something called for the use of the Kubota and its hydraulics. He enjoyed his time in the garage working on anything mechanical. He was one of the last true mechanics. When he had time for himself, he loved the carefree feeling and adventure of riding his motorcycle.
Mike was truly at peace when everyone was at home, safe and sound. Mike was first and foremost a dedicated father. Alisha was his greatest achievement and most treasured gift in his life. She was his priority and his reason. He deeply felt the following statement to be so true and lived by it.
“A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in or the kind of car I drove…but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child.
He was a good man with the biggest of hearts. He will be sorely missed by all of his family and friends.
