Obituary of Mervin Clarence Bezanson
Bezanson, Mervin Clarence- New Chester. It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of the youngest son of Gordon and Nina (Naugler) Bezanson of New Chester at the QE11 Hospital with his loving family by his side on February 12, 2022. Born in the IWK Halifax on January 13, 1981 with a condition called Megacystis- Microcolon Intestinal Hypoperistalsis Syndrome. In 1985 Mervin was written up in the Medical Journal as being the only male survivor of this condition. Dr. D Alexander Gillis, Chief of Surgery worked with Mervin and performed many operations, while Mervin spent his first 8 ½ months in the IWK. Then over the years Mervin had many more operations to endure. Facing these medical conditions Mervin persevered and graduated highschool. He was the prom king of his class in 1999. He went on to trade school graduating as an Electronic Engineering Technician, with this he worked as an Electronic Engineer at L-3 Communications for many years until he had to have a kidney transplant 10 years ago. Mervin owned his own home in Lake Echo but spent much of his time in New Chester with his family. He loved driving his car, his hobbies included stained glass, deer hunting, fishing ( always catching the biggest one) and 4-wheeling. He helped everyone who needed a hand. Mervin had a strong will, which helped him overcome all the obstacles that life threw at him, however the last 10 months he battled an infection which he couldn’t overcome. He is survived by his parents, sister, Cheryl (Chris); brother Jason (Ashley); nieces and nephews, Morgan, Madison, Mallory, Christian, Regan, Breanne, Miranda and Joel; Grandfather, Herbert Naugler, Aunt Judy (Vic) Bezanson, Uncle Rodger (Beth) Naugler and many cousins. Predeceased by brother, Philip, nephew Devin, sister in law, Tanya, grandparents Clarence and Rilda Bezanson and Grandmother, Alice Naugler. Committal in St. James Cemetery, New Chester on May 7, 2022 at 2 PM, Rev. Peter Young officiating. Everyone is welcome to attend this celebration of life for Mervin with a lunch to follow.
