Obituary
It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Mervin on May 9th, 2022. Mervin was a patient, kind, generous, and giving person throughout his life. He was introduced to the love of his life by his friend Al (Buddy) Johnston more than 70 years ago. Geraldine soon stole her brother’s friend, they eloped and enjoyed 69 wonderful years together. They traveled extensively throughout their married life, enjoying all of their adventures. After his retirement from a long career with the Government of Canada, Merv and Gerre devoted countless hours of their time to volunteering. He volunteered for years as a driver at Spruce Meadows where he could nurture a lifelong love of horses. He also loved all other animals, especially birds and dogs. He and Gerre volunteered at the Salvation Army, Agape Hospice, the Calgary Airport, and Inglewood Bird Sanctuary. He and Geraldine gave selflessly of their time.
Mervin will be deeply missed by his loving wife and best friend Geraldine. Also remembering Merv with love are his brother-in-law Buddy (Molly) and twin sister Maxine. He is also survived by his nephew Don (Marlene) Brooks and nieces and nephews Cindy (Cy), Jeff (Brenda), Judy (Kevin), Marshall (Tracey), and many others. He is also survived by many great-nieces and nephews. Mervin will be deeply missed by his long-time friend David Higham, Mervin touched many lives in such a positive way. Rest in peace, kind soul.
A small family gathering will take place on a future date.
