Obituary
With heavy hearts the family of Merle H. Nason announces his passing which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a lengthy illness, Tuesday January 4th, 2022. Born in Fredericton March 27 of 1943, he was the son of the late Hilyard and Leota (Tufts) Nason.
Merle worked as an Insurance Agent for many years, a member of LAN-SAN Crib Club for over 50 years; past member of Carlton Curling Club, Saint John Kiwanis and Housing Cooperatives. He was a member of the Fundy Funeral Home Preplanning for many years.
Merle is survived by his loving and devoted wife Mary Lou (Pope) Nason; 3 sons Scott (Josie) Murray (Lisa) and Keith (Brenda); step-daughter Stacey McCaughan of Saint John; 11 grandchildren Ashley, Brock, Emma, Carter, Graham, Kiara, Dale, Connor, Mannix, Jozie and Kyle; great-granddaughter Georgie; brothers Guy (Anu) and Robin (Dianna); sister Joyce Titus (Clayton); sister-in-law Janet; brother-in-law Robert Pope; nieces, nephews; special niece Erica Nason and many friends. Along with his parents Merle was predeceased by his first wife and mother of his children, Carole L. (McLean) Nason in 1992; parents -in-law Prescott “Peck & Marion McLean and Marjorie & Howard Nott; brother Neil Nason; baby sister Ellen in 1945.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation on Tuesday January 11th, 2022 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Memorial service to begin at 2:00 p.m. following visitation from Fundy Funeral Home Chapel. Due to public health regulations, proof of vaccinations are required and a government issued ID.
