It is with heavy hearts the family of Bob McEwan announce his peaceful passing April 9, 2022 at 92 years of age.
Bob was predeceased by his wife Lucia in 2003, his parents, brothers, sisters, daughter-in-law, and other in-laws.
Mourning his loss are his children Judy (Len) McBride, John, Ken (Juanita), Marie, Rick (Debbie) and Beth (Joe) Luptak, his 17 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Also survived by sister Mae (Gordie) McLaughlin, brother-in-law Don Muir, sister-in-law Marie Ouellet, numerous nieces, and nephews.
Bob and Lucy raised their family in the North Glenora neighborhood where they lived for 50 years, making many friends. He liked to dance, play bingo and was an avid fan of baseball and curling.
Bob had a long working career as shipper/receiver for Northern Hardware, Walter Woods and Hotel Equipment until he retired at age 72. He enjoyed camping with the family in the mountains which always included stops in Exshaw to spend time with his lifelong friend Peter Gordie. In his retirement years he travelled with Judy, Ken and Rick on various trips to Jasper, Vancouver, Whistler, Alaska, San Francisco and the Grand Canyon. He liked to take solo train trips to Jasper. Most of all enjoyed his trips to Nova Scotia to spend time with Ken’s family.
Dad really looked forward to his regular Saturday/Judy day and Sunday/Rick day outings for pancakes and tours through the old neighborhood. which included ice cream. His blue eyes really sparkled during the large special breakfast gatherings which included many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dad especially loved riding shotgun when Rick showed up in one of his classic cars for their regular outings and even more excited when attending one of the many car shows which always included ice cream.
The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation and thanks to the staff at Extendicare Eaux Claires for the exceptional care Bob received there in the last 5 years.
