Passed away peacefully at Grand River Hospital on February 13, 2022.
Don is survived by his daughter Ann and son-in-law Steven Ball, and sister Carolyn (Barnard) Fooks, and brother-in-law Roland (Shelley) Oliver. He is predeceased by his wife Jean Barnard by 29 days, his sister Bernice (Barnard) Nicholson, and sister-in-law Doreen (Ted) Joyce.
Don was born to Bruce and Florence Jean Barnard in Dereham Centre, Ontario on November 8, 1936. Don spent his early years working on the family’s dairy farm, Barhaven Farm, in Dereham Centre.
Don and Jean married on October 3, 1964, in Tillsonburg, Ontario, and moved to Cambridge (then Galt) in 1968. He spent his life working in the dairy industry from farming, to driving milk trucks, cheese making, and milk testing. He worked at New Dundee Creamery for four decades at their plants in Tillsonburg, Ontario and New Dundee, Ontario. Don and Jean were long-time members of Forward Baptist Church.
Don loved the outdoors, fishing, and a good crossword puzzle. He was a devoted husband, and the best father and friend a daughter could ever hope for. Our lives aren’t the same without his presence.
The family will be hosting a memorial service for both Don and Jean at Corbett Funeral Home, 95 Dundas St. N., Cambridge, at 11:00am Friday, February 25, 2022.
Memorial donations can be made to Fairview Mennonite Home at fairviewmh.com/donate/ or New Hope Community Services at newhopecs.org/donate/
