May Arsenault Saturday August 27th 2022 avis de deces

Our dear mother, Mary (May) Arsenault passed away peacefully in Squamish, Sea to Sky Hospice on August 27th, 2022, at the age of 99yrs. Mom is lovingly remembered by her three children Eileen (Michael), Terry (Adele) and Darryl (Brenda). She is also survived by grandsons Jarrett, Bradley and Sean, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many friends.
Mom was predeceased by her beloved husband Ted, who died May 21, 2021. Mom and Dad were married in Scotland in 1945, during WW II. Dad was attached to the Canadian 14th Field Regiment – 3rd Artillery Division, stationed in Scotland. They met when Mom was with the Transportation Authority in Paisley, Scotland. Dad was asking for directions, and they remained a very committed couple for 76 years.
Mom, as a war bride, followed Dad back to Canada in 1946 to Big River, Saskatchewan. They lived in various towns in Northern Saskatchewan, where Dad was a Conservation Officer. This was a real culture shock for a city girl; however, Mom loved her life experiences with Dad in the North and adapted easily to the different lifestyle and raising three children. Mom and Dad retired to Squamish in 1983 to be closer to family.
Mom was the last surviving member of her birth family [predeceased Sisters and Brothers- Mattie, Dan, Jimmy, Eileen and Sam].
Our mother was a kind, caring and giving person who always put the needs of her family before her own. Mom was a wonderful parent who was always there when we needed her. Mom was a strong woman who faced every challenge in her life with courage and dignity. Mom was a woman of strong faith, and she instilled in us the importance of family, hard work and doing what is right. Our mother was a true role model whom we will always look up to. Mom was one of the kindest and most loving women; our family was blessed to have her for as long as we did. She remains a source of inspiration for each of us and she will be deeply missed by everyone whose life she touched.
Mom was a wonderful cook and homemaker. She was gifted in the kitchen, making the best pies, donuts, and amazing main course meals. Her cookie jar was never empty. Mom was a generous friend to her children, their spouses and other family members. Rarely did she have a negative word about anyone. She was always willing and able to see the positive side of people and situations. She had a dry sense of humor and loved to laugh at her own jokes. Her pleasant personality was contagious to everyone she met. She made friends easily and in earlier years participated in many Squamish community activities; Friends of Squamish Library, Great Books through Capilano College, Ceramics and Painting Classes and the Seniors Walking Group. We will miss this lovely lady. May she rest in peace.
Deep gratitude to Dr. Aragon, Palliative Care Physicians and Nurses and ‘For the One You Love’ caregivers, Jenny, Sheryl and family friend Kim, for committed care and support.
We will have a private burial in conjunction with Dad’s ashes and a luncheon at Squamish RCL #277 to be announced.
Please consider a memorial donation in May Arsenault’s name to the Sea to Sky Hospice for their exemplary care and compassion for our mother. seatoskyhospicesociety.ca, 38146 Behrner Dr, Squamish, BC V8B 0J3
