Maurice Moe Flaro Monday May 16th 2022 avis de deces

Maurice R. “Moe” Flaro of South Glengarry died peacefully with family by his side at Hospice Cornwall on May 16, 2022 at the age of 79. He was born in 1942 in Sudbury, ON to Hilda (Boyer) and Dan Flaro and grew up in South Lancaster, ON at the family marina, Dan’s Place. He is survived by his daughter Haley Flaro (Bradley Coughlin) of Fredericton, NB, his son Ryan Flaro (Gabrielle) of South Lancaster, ON, and his cherished granddaughter, Meadow Ann Elizabeth Flaro. He is also survived by his sisters Gail Killoran (Gary) of Cornwall, ON, Joyce Lalonde (Kenneth) of Cornwall, ON, Joan Julien (late Raymond) of Cornwall, ON, Carole Gillespie (Patrick) of Kingston, ON, Donna Vermette (Gerald) of Abbotsford, BC and his brother Allen Flaro (Carol) of Lancaster, ON. He was predeceased by his wife Anna May MacPherson, his parents, his sisters Ruth Julien (late Gerald) of Rochester, NY and Betty Hurley (late Allan), and his brothers Kenneth and Ronald Flaro (Andy). He leaves behind many nieces and nephews. Maurice was a graduate in Chemical Engineering from Clarkson University in Potsdam, NY and worked most of his life in the textile industry in Montreal. He had a powerful work ethic. Maurice loved the St. Lawrence river and raised his children on its shores. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and made sure his children could drive a boat and skin a fish at an early age. He always placed his family first and being Meadow’s Papa was his life’s greatest gift.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of the Munro & Morris Funeral Homes Ltd., 46 Oak St. Lancaster (613-347-3629). There will be no visitation or service at Maurice’s request. A private family internment will be held at St. Joseph cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to Hospice Cornwall or St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, South Lancaster, would be appreciated by the family. While Catholic by faith, St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church was incredibly important to his late wife’s family and he recently expressed that he would like to help maintain this beautiful pillar of the South Lancaster community.
