Obituary of Mary Boggio
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passage of our Mother Mary Margaret Boggio (Svarckopf) with her family by her side. Predeceased by her loving husband of over 67 years John Frank Boggio, her parents Steve and Rose (Geng) Svarckopf and brothers Joe, Steve, John and Zoli. She will be sadly missed by her children Bonnie (Jim) Hauser, Lenard (Jane Ellis), Bernice (W Robert) Drury and Larry (Cathy Kieffer). Also survived by her Grandchildren Phil (Dana), Mark (Kim), Matt (Jamie), Michael (Laura), Lauren (Ivan), Emma (Sean), Nathan (Tiffany), Alex, Lisa, Sue (Tom), Aaron and Kyle. Also loved by great grandchildren Reeve, Cohen, Iyla, Bevin, Ashley, Logan, Kayla, Jura, Iona, Lyra, Kinley, Cadan, Nixon and Nala.
Mary was born in Welland, grew up in Fenwick and moved to Port Colborne in her teens where she met and married John. She was a good loving mother who enjoyed cooking for her family both Hungarian and Italian meals. Family meant everything to her and she would do anything for them. Mary was an accomplished seamstress and made most of her own and her daughter’s clothing including their wedding dresses. She was a 70 year member of the CWL where she was happy to help make the cabbage rolls and was very involved with the Christmas bazaars. She started crafts after Christmas and had car loads of things by the time the bazaar came around the next year. Mom did love and would try any kind of craft. She crocheted, knit sweaters, did rug hooking, quilts, needle point, Oil painting and she and dad made drift wood and pine cone art. She and John enjoyed their latter years clogging and square dancing and going to Florida in the winter.
Mom moved into Portal Village in Port Colborne during the final chapters of her life, leaving behind the family home that she and John built themselves more than 60 years earlier. She participated in everything that was offered at Portal Village and was rarely in her room when we went to visit her. A very big thank you to all the staff at Portal Village for their kindness to Mary. Later she moved to Grandview Lodge in Dunnville, who provided the care she needed for the final stage of her life. Once again, she was seldom in her room, and greeted everyone who encountered her with a friendly “Hiya”. A big hug goes out to all the staff at the Creekside wing of Grandview for the care, love and compassion they showed Mary in her time there.
She will be forever in our hearts and is sending you her final “Hiya” as she is now off dancing with our dad.
In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Therese of Lisieux Church, 379 Fares Street, Port Colborne on Saturday, April 30, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Janusz Roginski as celebrant. Rite of committal will follow at Mount St. Joseph Cemetery.
If so desired, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Mary
