Baker, Mary Amelia
In her 93rd year, Mary passed to a better place, peacefully, in the company of family. Her long journey with Alzheimer’s is now over. Mary was the beloved wife of the late Jack Baker (2001). She is survived by her sister Ann Calberry of Lakefield and her brother Jim Hickling of Pickering. Her sons, Paul (Nancy) of Bracebridge, Phil (Lori) of Fenelon Falls were lovingly dedicated to her care until the end came. Mary cherished being Nanny to Jason (Christy) and Casey (Curtis) and was the most generous grandmother ever and was a doting great-grand-nanny to Addyson, Kloe, Kaiya and Ken. Mary was devoted to Fenelon Falls, being Town Clerk for 30 years up until 1993 and giving generously of her time and support in different ways. Mary also committed a great deal of time to Girl Guides and was Commissioner for a time in the 1960’s. She especially loved her time at the cottage and was always happy to entertain family and friends. The cottage was the perfect place to indulge her love of any and all animals. Spending her last years at Fenelon Court was not her wish, and we can never adequately thank the staff there for making those years easier or for the care and love they provided. Our family is so thankful to have them by her side. Mary’s fiery spirit, her love and laughter, her life of the party attitude and joy in life will be missed by her family and friends leaving many memories. We will never forget this special lady. May she now and forever rest in peace with love. The family of Mary Baker will receive friends at the JARDINE FUNERAL HOME, 8 Princes’ St. W., Fenelon Falls, on Sunday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and then on Monday April 25th from 10:00 a.m. until the time of funeral service in the chapel at 11:00 a.m. Face masks are required. Interment at Fenelon Falls Cemetery will follow. If desired memorial donations to the Langton Public School Food Program or to the Community Foundation of Kawartha Lakes (Fenelon Falls Community Fund) would be appreciated.
