MARTIN JOHN HALSALL
It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Martin Halsall aged 73 years. He will be missed by his son Adam and family and Julia (Derrick) and family.
Martin with his wife Brenda arrived in Winnipeg from Liverpool, England on a snowy day in March 1976.
He was a skilled stone mason and quickly found work with Larsen’s Memorials. Martin suffered a stroke that prevented him from working, although his interest in stone never waned.
Life was difficult for Martin, he always said he had drawn the short straw and that’s the way it was. Right up until the past 5 years, he was still able to enjoy going out for the occasional day trip to the Whiteshell or feed the geese at Brookside Cemetery and share a drink with his pals at the Westbrook.
As things became increasingly difficult, his one wish was to remain in his own home as long as possible. That wish was granted when Martin passed away peacefully, having settled down for a nap and he nodded off.
He and Brenda were together for 46 years and knew each other for 60 years.
