Mario Carbonara
June 12, 1948 – October 31, 2022
Mario Carbonara age 74, passed peacefully surrounded by his family in his home on October 31, 2022. Mario was born in Bitetto, Bari, Italy the youngest of seven children of Giuseppe and Rocca Carbonara.
Mario was only 18 when he boarded the ship Olympia arriving in Canada with a chest full of cheese. One day he answered a print ad in the newspaper for a singer and his singing career began. This took him to many places like Chicago and Cleveland where he also had the opportunity to sing with Gianni Morandi. It was at this time when he met his wife Carmela and their relationship began.
Mario was strong willed and a jack of all trades. He worked in many different jobs including real estate, sales, an electrician and ford plant associate. He started his own business in 1980 that ran for 35 years. Although he ‘retired’ his energy would not allow him to stay home, so he set out to find another job. This search brought him to the Ford dealership in Mississauga where he was not only the shuttle driver, but also a great friend to many, running errands, picking up coffee, planting flowers and making his famous focaccia for everyone.
Mario loved cooking, his ford swag, his red mustang and sharing his wisdom with everyone he met.
The family would like to thank the doctors at Credit Valley Hospital, Palliative Care doctors and nurses at Dorothy Le Hospice Community and TrueNorth Medical. In addition they also thank all the those friends and family who provided friendship and support during his 5 year battle with cancer.
He is survived by his wife Carmela and children: Giulia (Frank), Lisa (Kimara), Daniela (Anthony), Joseph (Tanya). Nonno to Sebastian, Ava, James and Penelope.

Mario will always be remembered as a hard working man that was the protector and provider for his family. Always taking pride in his home and more importantly his infamous Pizza nights. May his soul be at peace and may his love still continue to surround all of you during this sad time
