Obituary of Marilyn Louise Major
Marilyn Louise Major of Georgetown passed away peacefully in
her 88th year on January 23, 2022 at her family home. Marilyn will
be sadly missed by her beloved husband of 70 years, Paul, her 5
children and their spouses, Tricia and Jeff McKechnie, Chris and
LeeAnn Major, Karen Major, Terry and Tim Scarrow, Barbara
Major and Dave Bouck, her 10 grandchildren and 13 greatgrandchildren.
Marilyn was born at home on the farm in Hay Township, ON, on
January 28,1934. She had a love for softball and was an all-star
pitcher where ever she played. While living in PEI, the local
newspapers said “If you ask ask us to name a winner, we can
only yawn and come back with a counter-question. Is Marilyn in
town? Okay, you’ve had your answer…”
She loved family time, some of which was traveling. Early trips
started with 5 kids and a dog in a station wagon and trailer. Later
on, other enjoyable adventures included road trips, cruises, and
vacations exploring new places. Her all-time favourite was just a
few years ago, when all the family gathered in Vancouver, before
some continued on to an Alaskan cruise.
Marilyn was an avid gardener throughout her life. In her later
years when moving into their condo she enjoyed being active in
both the social club and bridge club. Marilyn had such a kind
heart and took the time to listen and to make everyone feel
special.
Visitation will be held at Jones Funeral Home on Wednesday
January 26, 2022 between 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held at
Holy Cross Church on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 10:30am

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr Y Razvi and all
the health care personnel who cared for Marilyn during her illness.
