Surrounded by family, Marie Sarah Ann Kinsella passed away peacefully on Monday, August 29th, 2022 following a brief illness.
Predeceased by, and finally reunited with her loving husband of 38 years, Michael (June,1998), her parents, Chesley and Marion Dicks (nee Thorne), siblings; Gerald, Wayne, and Brenda (Ken) Lush, her brothers in law; Gus Kinsella and George Bonnell, half-siblings; Gertie Butler, Bill Smith (Betty), Olive Rose (Dave), and numerous other brothers and sisters in law from the Kinsella and Dicks families.
Leaving to mourn with an abundance of warm, wonderful memories are her 6 children; Linda Tilley (Bob), Yvonne O’Brien (Dan), Mary Kennedy, Michael (Patti-Anne), Vicki Kinsella (Tyrone Gosse), and Donna Kinsella (Tony Murphy). 12 grandchildren; Danny, Donnie and David (Jolene) O’Brien, Tania (Robbie Gosse) and Camron (Jenn Richardson) Tilley, Joshua (Maria) Nugent, Mitchell, Claire, and Leeland Murphy, Michayla Kennedy, Kassidy and Tyler Gosse, 11 great-grandchildren; Samantha, Brianna, Shawn, Cheyenne, Jayden and Brooklyn O’Brien, Mariea and Jack Gosse, Kenneth Breaker, Charlie Gosse and Colson Byrne. 2 great-great grandchildren; Joseph and Arielle. Her sister and lifelong best friend Elizabeth Kinsella, siblings Raymond, Jean, Herb (Margie), and sister-in-law Judy Dicks.
Our mother was the foundation of the big, beautiful family that she adored and cherished so much. She lived for her children and grandchildren and had an immense amount of pride for their every accomplishment – big or small. She was a pillar of strength, support, and comfort for all of those around her and could be counted on to raise your spirits and brighten up your day.
For over 17 years, she worked alongside three of her daughters at The Learning Tree Childcare Center where she became famous for her macaroni and cheese and was “Nanny” to 100’s more children throughout the years.
Mom loved a good game of cards or bingo with the girls, Saturday morning yard sales, and Sunday afternoon drives. Her generosity was unparalleled and those who were privileged enough to visit her kitchen never left without a full belly or a snack to go. She was happiest when surrounded by her family. Her wittiness, light-hearted jokes and silly pranks always brought smiles and laughter and will be greatly missed.
Special thanks to Dr. Mark and the nursing staff at 4SA at Health Sciences Center for your compassion and care over the past two weeks, and to Shelley Byrne and Roxanne Rose for your company and support over the past several months.
Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, Torbay, on Wednesday, August 31st, from 7-9pm and Thursday, September 1st from 10am-9pm. Funeral Mass will be held from St. Francis of Assisi Church, Outer Cove, on Friday, September 2nd, at 9:30am with cremation to follow. Burial will take place on Saturday, September 3rd, at St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery at 11:00am. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations in her memory may be made to a children’s charity of your choice.
