Mariam Elizabeth Smith
December 23, 1929- October 1, 2022.
She died peacefully in her sleep at the Broadview Nursing Home in Smiths Falls on Saturday, October 1 in her 93rd year.
She was the beloved wife of 67 years to Charles Smith, who predeceased her in 2019. She was the dear mother of Ron (Carolyn) of Brockville, Kenneth (Linda) of Cardinal and Karen Barrington of Brockville. She is the dear sister of Virginia Fraser of Toronto.
She was predeceased by her parents, Ken and Ethyl Baker of Crosby.
She is fondly remembered by grandchildren Amanda, Charlene and Darren along with great-grandchildren Zoey, Isabel, Sawyer and Wesley.
Born and raised in Crosby, she lived a good and full life with plenty of memories revolving around family, friends and the community of Toledo. She enjoyed her many years as the head secretary at Brockville Collegiate Institute.
The family will receive friends at the Scotland Funeral Home, 27 Main street in Elgin, on Thursday from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. followed by the funeral service at the chapel. Interment will be held at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Maitland at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations can be made to any local food bank or the S.P.C.A. and they would be appreciated by the family.
