Obituary of Maria Burnaccioni
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maria Burnaccioni on July 19, 2022, at Northland Pointe. She was in her 87th year. Beloved wife of Aldo, dear mother of Susan Brown (Kelly) and cherished Nonna of Amanda Kaine (Cory), Brandon Brown (Danyelle), and Great Nonna of Ashton and Aubree Kaine. She is survived by brothers Carlo Pietrelli (Lidia), Temi Pietrelli (Mary), Gary Pietrelli (MaryAnn), and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Agostino and Ida Pietrelli, brother Giuseppe Pietrelli (Lina), and sister Ernesta Sanchioni (Dante). She was born in Montemaggiore, Pesaro, Italy and came to Canada in 1954.
Maria was a long-time member of the Italian Hall in Port Colborne, where she worked in the kitchen for many years, but she will be remembered by many as they were greeted by her beautiful smile at the door on Pasta Night. Maria was a wonderful cook, delighting her family with many delicious meals. She also loved to sew and garden, but most of all she adored caring for her grandchildren and family. She will be sadly missed by her family and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. We wish to express our gratitude to Dr. Emily Wilson and the staff at Northland Pointe for their kindness and excellent care.
Maria’s family will receive visitors at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 179 Clarence Street, Port Colborne on Thursday, July 21, 2022 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 22, 2022 at St. Therese of Lisieux Roman Catholic Church, 379 Fares Street, Port Colborne at 10:30 a.m. with Father Janusz Roginski as celebrant. Entombment to follow at Pleasantview Memorial Gardens, Fonthill.
If so desired, memorial donations can be made to the Help a Child Smile Foundation, or Northland Pointe, or St. Therese Church.
