Marie “Margie” Graham
Pictou
It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Marie “Margie” Graham (nee Poirier) on August 30, 2022 at the age of 74 after a brief illness. Born in Montreal to the late Norman and Florence (Madore) Poirier, Marie always considered Pictou her home and was predeceased by husbands, Raymond Pettipas and Alan Graham. She is survived by her children, Cathy (Rod) MacGregor, Judy Fenton, Debbie (John R) Smith, Rick (Lisa) Langille and Tom Langille. Marie’s pride and joy were her grandchildren, Kim, Caity, Corie, Luke, Kiley, Brody, James, Ethan, Ryan and Peter. She was especially blessed with great grandchildren, Abbey, Chloe, Jake, Amelia, Rebecca and Cade. Marie is also survived by her siblings, Jeannie Poirier and Kimo Poirier. Our mom was a proud Legion member and dedicated many years to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 16 and the Ladies’ Auxiliary, serving in many roles including President of both. With her husband Raymond, she was instrumental in reviving the Pictou Youth Centre where they entertained, fed and chaperoned many of Pictou’s teens. Simply put, Mom enjoyed people, whether catering a wedding, playing darts, listening to live entertainment or dancing up a storm. She had a bigger than life personality with an outfit to match. A special thanks to close friends Cyril and Pat who made the weekly trip to Pictou to accompany Mom to listen to live music and engage with friends. Visitation will be held at McLaren’s Funeral Home, Pictou on Friday, September 2, 2022 from 6-8 pm. A public graveside service will take place at the Stella Maris Cemetery, Pictou on Saturday September 3, 2022 at 1 pm with a reception to follow at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 16, Pictou. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Margie
