Obituary
FENTON, Marjorie Kathleen (née Stephenson)
With love and humour, this wonderful woman left us on Tuesday, February 28th, 2022.
Born to Geoff and Alma Stephenson on July 10th, 1929, Marjorie was the eldest of five children. She grew up on the family farm near Wapella, Saskatchewan and remained there with her wonderful parents and siblings until 1947. That year, she moved to Westbank BC to join her best friend Ruby to find work.
Marge and Ruby first met in Grade one when Ruby and her twin brother arrived for their first day of school in bare feet. The other kids made fun of them but, Marge would have none of this! She intervened by telling the other kids to “knock it off” then grabbed Ruby by the hand, led her to her desk and the two became life-long friends.
This characterized Marge’s entire life. The kindness, intelligence and moral integrity were a beacon to a wide variety of friends and family.
In Westbank, Marge met her husband Clarence and the 70 plus year story began. Marge worked at the Westbank Packers for many years. Marge also had a passion for sports, and could be seen sitting in the bleachers all day long for baseball games, keeping score. She loved gardening, camping, anything outside, traveling, baking and cooking huge meals for family and friends and hosting 6-pack Saturday’s (the more the merrier). Marge was full of fun and laughter with a wonderful sense of humour, we were blessed to have her.
Survived by her husband Clarence of 70 years, her five children, Bart (Maggie), James (Carla), Robert (Trina), Della Mae, Scott (Terri). Her sister Edith (Bun) of Assiniboia, Saskatchewan. Her grandchildren, Tyler, Toni (Thomas), Jason (Sarah), Mikayla, Cameron (Jocelyn), Blair (Katie), Chad (Molly), Nicole (Geordie), Melissa (Travis) and Matthew. Great Grandchildren, Rylea, Nyla, Oakren, Tucker and Jessie. Sisters-in-law, Dorothy, Florence and Laurel. Many nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends like Debbie Jendruck and Kaz Jiyobu, whom she considered to be part of her family.
She was pre-deceased by brothers Maurice and Ken and her sister Barb.
She is so grateful to her long time family Doctor, Dan Obedkoff and his staff member Patty, and was so thankful for the care she was given by the nursing staff and Dr’s at KGH.
There will be no funeral at Marge’s request, however a celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice in Memory of Marjorie.
