Obituary
With sadness, the family of Margaret Woolfrey announces her peaceful passing on March 3rd, 2022 at Kingston General Hospital a few weeks shy of her 90th birthday.
Predeceased by her parents, Jack and Grace Hill and her siblings, Joan, Dudley, and Jack, she is survived by her sister Susan (Neil) of Toronto and her sister-in-law Joyce Hill of Sydenham as well as numerous nephews, nieces, and great nephews and nieces.
Born in Ottawa on April 8,1932 Margaret grew up in England after her parents decided to move their young family back to their homeland. At the age of 21, she decided to return to the land of her birth and initially settled in Oshawa after which she lived in Sydenham and most latterly in Elginburg. Much of her working career was spent as a realtor, first in the Bowmanville area and later as a salesperson specializing in rural properties around Kingston. She was a consummate saleswoman, the winner of many industry rewards, and always maintained an upbeat attitude. Many of her clients became her friends.
Marnie, as she was known to many, had a generous, outgoing nature and could be counted on to be the life of any party. She was famous for writing poems for family and friends to celebrate important milestones or occasions in their lives. Marnie was passionate about golf and was an enthusiastic fisherwoman. She will be missed.
The family would like to extend its thanks to the doctors and nurses at Kingston General Hospital for their care and compassion in her final days. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Marnie’s life will be held at a later date.
