Obituary
MARGARET JORDINSON MILON (née Jagger)
November 29, 1927- February 1, 2022
Margaret was happiest while tending to her perennial flower garden. From April to October she nurtured each plant, creating a floral oasis in her little backyard. Family was always her priority, she was devoted to her 3 children, Carole, Chris and Russell (Chantal Faucher). She was the proud, loving grandmother to Luke, Tess, Jeremy and Tristan.
She grew up in Manchester and Huddersfield as an only child, and experienced the challenges of WWII, giving her a strong sense of gratitude and acceptance for what she had. Married life in Canada began in 1954. Days after the wedding, with her husband Reggie, they embarked on a ship, bound for new opportunities in Montreal. She immediately landed a job in a legal office, for her sought-after British trained short-hand skills. In a couple of years she fulfilled her dream of being a full-time mother, while following her passion for landscape painting and craft-making.
Reg and Margaret enjoyed a marriage of nearly 70 years and along the way they created two beautiful homes filled with her art. In Montreal they forged close life-long friendships and when Reg’s work took them down the 401 to Toronto, they took on the challenge of finding new friends that shared their interests. Together they enjoyed live jazz, classical concerts, museums and theatre.
With Reg’s retirement 28 years ago, they loved taking local vacations staying in B & Bs and exploring the local landscape and towns. There were many happy family occasions celebrated together with children and then grandchildren. Margaret enjoyed a silly laugh; a family tradition of listening to all of Monty Python’s Flying Circus records at Christmas time will always be a cherished memory. Tears of laughter rolling down our cheeks.
In the last several years, Margaret suffered health issues that four years ago brought her to Lakeside Long-term Care Residence. Throughout that time, she always persevered and did her best to overcome the challenges she was faced with. We owe an immense debt of gratitude to the entire care team on the 4th floor who looked after her with compassion. Their hard work and dedication during the pandemic will always be appreciated. Ka-Din-Che, Thu-Je-Che, Dil Se Dhan-ya-vaad, Salamat po, Thank you!
Cheerio Margaret! You will be greatly missed.
As per Margaret’s wishes, there will not be a service or visitation. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her memory to a charity of your choice.
