Peacefully, at her home, Margaret “Joan” Robinson (nee Donaldson), 89, passed away on Christmas Eve morning.
Born in Northern Ireland, she emigrated to Toronto in 1951 with her mother and brother and built a life founded on service to others in everything that she did. She is predeceased by her father Robert (1934), mother Elizabeth (nee Kelly) (1974), her husband of 31 years Don Robinson (1996), and was the youngest of her five other siblings: Monro, Lillian, Winnifred, Lloyd, and Taggart; whom she has joined amongst the angels.
After the passing of Don, she moved to Ottawa to be closer to her son Walter (Jennifer) and eventually her grandson (Cedric, and fiancée Camille) and volunteered in several capacities at the Island Lodge residence, the Ottawa Hospital Auxiliary (General Campus), and most recently with the Auxiliary of Branch #632 (Orleans) of the Royal Canadian Legion. She enjoyed luncheons with the Ottawa Women’s Canadian Club, events of The Monarchist League of Canada, and was a member of the congregation of St. David and St. Martin’s Church. She lived life fully and was an avid letter writer. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and their children.
On Christmas morning her gifts to the family were opened with joy and beautiful memories were shared.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held next Spring. Details to be announced.
Donations in her memory can be made to the Royal Canadian Legion.
