Margaret Helene Lindquist Burnett Tuesday January 25th 2022 avis de deces

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Peggy Lindquist at Fenelon Court Residence in Fenelon Falls, Ontario, on Tuesday, January 25th, in her 95th year. Loving wife of Andee Lindquist (deceased) and devoted mother of Paul (Jane – deceased) , Colleen (deceased) Clyde Smith, and Kathleen (John Stewart). Proud grandmother of 7 grandchildren and 12great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her brothers Maurice Burnett and Paul Burnett (Evelyn).
Peggy grew up in Toronto, with her mother Madeline Pearl Burnett, and grandmother Louisa Morrison, along with a large number of aunts and uncles who doted on her and surrounded both her and her brother Paul with an abundance of love. She saw the love of her life, Andee, on the grounds of the elementary school they both attended, and knew he was the “one”. When he returned from Halifax, where he was stationed while enlisted in the Air Force, he called to invite her to a party, and the rest, as they say, was history. They married in February of 1946, and remained totally dedicated to each other until he passed away in 2015, just days after their 69th wedding anniversary.
Over the years, we have many memories of summer vacations at Clear Lake in Huntsville with our cousins, and others who we thought were cousins because our families were so close.
Mom and Dad enjoyed square dancing, and belonged to the “Happy Hoppers” for a time. They also enjoyed travelling around Canada and holidaying in Florida in their trailer during their retirement years.
Mom was well known around town in the retail establishments in which she worked, and is most recently remembered from her employment at Cassidy’s Flowers on Main Street. She loved dealing with the shoppers, the brides, the mourners, and anyone else who came into the store.
Mom and Dad were members of Newmarket Alliance Church for many years, serving as elders, and well known for their desire to pray for anyone who came to them, and even those who didn’t. They were much loved by all.
A service will be held at Newmarket Alliance Church at 1140 Gorham Street, Newmarket with visitation at 1:00 pm, and celebration of life at 2:00 pm, by registration only at the Newmarket Alliance Church Facebook page. A private family internment will follow at Queensville Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetic Association or the Alzheimers Society, if desired. Online condolences can be made at www.roadhouseand rose.com.
