Margaret Jones of Nanton, Alberta, passed away at the Claresholm Hospital on August 31, 2022, at the age of 88 years.
Margaret will be dearly missed by her children: Rob, Alan ( Gola ), Donna ( Dean ) Johnson, Barry
and grandson Matthew Johnson.
Margaret is also predeceased by son John ( 1988 ), husband Eldon ( 2009 ), siblings Blayne Clark, Darlene Winkleman, Lee Mcinnes and parents Archibald and Elizabeth ( Betty ) Clark.
Margaret was born on December 2, 1933, in Nanton, Alberta.
She attended school in Nanton and later finished high school at Red Deer Composite.
Margaret married Eldon Jones on May 24, 1952, moved to a farm East of Stavely, and farmed there until retirement in October 2003. They then moved to Nanton, into a large house overlooking Lion’s Grove Park, where Margaret continued to reside in after the death of Eldon in 2009. In September of 2021, Margaret moved into a condo on Westview Drive, where she continued to live until her passing.
Marg was an Eastern Star Lodge member, Served a term as President of the Nanton Figure Skating Club, Combine Pilot, and In her early years, she even drove in stock car races.
She was passionate about watching sports, Swimming, Figure skating. The Toronto Blue Jays and the Calgary Flames were her favourite teams.
In her spare time, Marg loved to read her romance novels and many Harlequin Romance books, which mentioned the romantic Raffles Hotel in Singapore, which she got to see & tour in person. She loved to travel by Bus, air and on Cruise Ships.
Margaret had the reputation of making the Best Angel Food cakes in the country along with pumpkin
and Flapper pies. She was the absolute best Mom and Grandma.
Both Eldon and Margaret had enjoyed many hours at the Cozy Corner, visiting, playing cards and
pool.
The Family would like to extend their many Thanks to the staff of Doctors and Nurses at both Nanton and Claresholm for their excellent care and compassion, along with Snodgrass Funeral Home in High
River.
